Doritos are healthier than Sun Chips. Check your child's lunch!

I've been packing my sons lunch for years after seeing what the school was serving him. The food I was paying for didn't even look edible. I decided to pack his lunch everyday. Now I have yet another concern with the lunches I'm packing him. I usually give him a slice of turkey rolled up or a PB&J, a slice of string cheese, a bag of sun chips or Doritos and Capri sun juice drink or Sunny D. After reading the article about the Fed Up Movie I decided to see for myself what was really inside my sons food. I really couldn't believe all the items that contain added sugar.

First I checked his Capri sun juice drink. The nutrition facts are not listed on the individual juice drinks so I checked the box. It says 100% fruit juice all over the box so you think you are making a good decision for your children. Now for the sugar content...........  This juice contains 21 grams of sugar.

I sometimes switch his Capri sun drink for a Sunny D. I was equally surprised to find that this had a lower amount with 19 grams of sugar.

Here are a few examples of the chips I pack in his lunch. On the left you see Doritos and on the right you see Sun Chips. I buy Sun Chips because I think they are the better and healthier choice. Looking at the nutrition facts I found that Sun Chips have 3 grams of sugar and 10 grams of fat. I then read the Doritos nutrition facts and found that they contain less than 1 gram of sugar and 8 grams of fat. So the Doritos are a better and healthier choice for my son. Boy was I fooled. I even choose to eat the Sun Chips as I thought they were healthier.

I hope you consider checking out what's really in the food your feeding your family.  I can't imagine outliving my children all because of our food choices.

Please share this with someone you love.

This documentary will give you better insight into the food we are putting in our mouths. I highly suggest you check it out Fed Up the Movie

Do I say "Goodbye" to an old friend?

I have this Mom friend who I have known a LONG time. We have grown apart in recent years and I will say that it's been hard for me. It's hard to slowly lose a true good friend. That one person who you can be really honest to. The Mom who thinks you are always doing a good job and makes sure to tell you that you are even when you feel like you're failing. She was a great friend. I say was because she has slowly stopped contacting me unless she needs something. Her life is always full of some type of drama. She doesn't answer the phone when I call and I think it's very rude. So this presents me with a difficult decision. Do I cut ties with this old friend or keep the relationship together with only my strength?

It becomes exhausting to keep this friendship at times. The latest thing that pushed me over the edge was her recent Facebook post. I know I shouldn't let it bother me but I read it with my heart and it kinda hurt my feelings.

She did one of those "dedication" to a good friend posts. She went on and on about how amazing this friend is. She said she was thankful that this person came into her life and blah blah blah. I guess she completely forgot that all of us are reading the same thing and that friend she is speaking of is in fact NOT amazing at all. In fact that friend does nothing but negatively effect her life. That friend she was speaking about is actually a terrible person. I don't understand why people keep terrible people in their life. I mean if you don't make my life better what's the point of keeping you around?

At the end of the day we should ask ourselves; what good does this person bring into my life? If you can't answer that, I think it's time to move on. Life is much to short to have negative people surrounding you. I hope I have the strength to make the right decision about this friend.

Always try to be there for one another. You never know when someone might need you.

Goodwill needs to lookup what the word means. Please share!

The story below was on the news recently. After I watched it I felt that I had to share it everywhere. Why would you pay someone with a disability less for doing ANY job? Don't you think it's harder for them to do that job? Shouldn't they be paid at least minimum wage? The majority of the products they sell are donated so they do have the money to pay fair wages. This is a disgusting trend that needs to stop.

Please share this with everyone so we can shed a light on Goodwill and their outdated practices.

Why you should stop texting and driving.

Texting and Driving, The truth and why it's BAD!

Question: How many seconds are your eyes off the road while texting?

Answer: The average time is 5 seconds. If you were traveling at 55 mph that is enough time to cover the length of a football field.

Think you have mad driving skills and can text and drive? Try the simulator and see now http://www.itcanwaitsimulator.org/

Did you know, a texting driver is 23 times more likely to get into an accident than a non-texting driver?

Over 100,000 accidents per year are caused by people texting.

Here are some pictures of cars after the accident.

As of 2012 drivers are subject to a fine of $100.00 or more if caught texting and driving. This amount varies state to state. If it can be shown that texting while driving was the cause of an accident the fines go up considerably. As of today they start at $250.00 per each incident.

The police use technology in our cars and cell phones to accurately gauge the precise time you were texting. You can' t just say "I wasn't texting".

If you were to cause an accident that ended in death, you will be charged with vehicular manslaughter.

You can be pulled over if you appear to be texting, even if you have not broken any other laws.

If you cause an accident while texting, you WILL be sued for not only negligence, but for punitive damages as well. Texting while driving constitutes a course of conduct which creates a substantial risk of significant harm to others.

Research has been done that shows texting while driving has the same effect as driving while intoxicated by alcohol or drugs.

Please take that time to pledge not to text and drive >>>> Pledge Now

Back to school

The kids are finally back to school today. I have all day to myself......... Do I relax, take a nap, paint my nails? No I went grocery shopping, picked up turtle food, went to the bank and the post office. I guess I'm not that great at relaxing. I've seen people do it but I can't seem to do it myself. I have about forty five minutes left before the kids come home so I guess I will go do some laundry.

It's true a Moms work is never done.

I hope everyone has a great day today.
