Apple announces the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus with updated watch

Apple just unveiled the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus along with an updated watch during their September Apple Event today. If you missed the keynote speech you can watch it here. The camera is said to be the most improved with the dual 12-megapixel camera and a better ambient light sensor for low-light pictures. It also includes a telephoto lens and wide angle lens. Now your images can be enhanced up to 10x vs just 2x in years prior. We all knew about the removal of the headphone jack. The phone is said to ship with wireless earbuds. The display is brighter and the 3D touch has been enhanced. Storage has been improved as everyone has asked for. The home button is gone as speculated. Perhaps the most exciting for all you Pokemon Go fans, Apple announced it will now be available on the watch. For all you old schoolers, Nintendo will be offering Super Mario Run. I think that's an awesome pairing, Apple and Nintendo. I can't wait to see where that goes. I'm seeing real-time Mario Cart Racing in the very near future. Here's the info on the prices.

What was your favorite part of the announcement today?

iPhone 5 screen separating due to battery swelling

I recently noticed my iPhone 5 heating up while it was charging. I tried switching chargers and that didn't help. A few days later I noticed that my screen seemed to be separating from the body. You can see in the pictures below. The bottom of the phone is coming apart. I called my carrier AT&T and they explained that I was eligible for an upgrade. I would have to pay for that upgrade of course so I explored other options.

Here's a close up of the separation.

The phone was functioning as normal with the exception of a small screen defect that you could barely notice. If I pressed hard enough, I could snap it back into place for a short time.

I decided to Google the problem and see if I had any options. I found that several other people were experiencing this same problem.

A few people said they took the phone to Apple and others said to just buy a new phone. I figured that it was worth a try to start with Apple. I backed up my phone and headed to Apple to see if they could help me. Upon arriving, I was greeted right away by a friendly Apple associate. I explained the problem I was having and he asked to look at my phone. It took him about ten seconds to see that the screen was separating from the body. He explained that it was covered under warranty due to the battery swelling. He further explained that the phone would be replaced at no charge. He sent me to a different station to meet with a tech. Within about five minutes the tech brought out a new phone and began setting it up for me. The whole process went very quickly. I had my new undamaged phone and I was on my way.

If you have a problem with your Apple product, I would suggest starting with them before going to your carrier. This could save you time and money.

Top 8 apps every Mom needs now!

This is a screen shot from my phone to show the actual app icons.

I use my phone for everything as we all do. Recently I noticed that my phone was almost full. So to fix this problem I decided to check out what apps I had installed. WOW I had a lot of apps. Most of which I don't even use. If you have to scroll across your phone through more than 4 pages of apps, you have too many lol. Most of the apps I have on my phone, I don't even use. I decided to make a list of the "Top 8 apps every Mom needs now!" I figure, if this helps at least one Mom clean out her phone space and save some money, I've succeeded. All the apps below are FREE.

1. Ebates: This is one of the most important apps you can use. If you ever buy anything online you will get cash back with this app. You can even pay online and pick up in store. This is a must have this holiday season.

2. Snip Snap: This is one of the best coupon apps. You can search tons of coupons for every store you shop at. Simply show the coupon on your phone at checkout and you receive the discount. Really simple.

3. Shopular: This app has all the local store ads in one place. You can browse sales all from the comfort of your living room in your PJ's.

4. Shopkick: This app gives you "check in" points and scanning points while you are in a store. You can convert your points to giftcards. It's really easy and can pay off quickly. I have my kids scan products while I'm in the store. They love having a job to do and we earn points while they do it.

5. Ibotta: This is a great way to save even more money on the stuff you already buy. It's like a rebate program but without the complicated submissions. It's easy to use. All you have to do is scan the item and your receipt to receive your rebate. Once the items and receipt are verified, you get your cash. Simpy let your cash add up you can turn it into a gift card of your choice.

6. Groupon: This one is great to have on hand. I check it before we go out to dinner or family outing. They always have great deals on places we were planning on visiting anyhow. The Groupon deals are my favorite. Every once in a while, you will find a $10.00 Starbucks card for only $5.00. You can only buy one but it's a 50% savings so it's worth it.

7. Livingsocial: This is almost as good as Groupon. I got it because I found that if Groupon doesn't have it Livingsocial will. It has great local deals and it's easy to use.

8. RetailMeNot: I use this app last to find a coupon to the store I'm shopping at. They don't have a ton of current coupons but if you can't find it at Snip Snap, they will have it.

New threat to our children.

There is very scary news circulating on Facebook. It says that people are going door to door pretending to sell books for children. They have very thick accents. They ask tons of questions about your kids and most people answer them without even thinking. After all, they are selling children's books. They are acting exhausted from the heat and ask to come in to get out of the heat and to get some water. They ask about the neighborhood and about other children who live nearby. These people are hitting neighborhoods on all sides of town. They are very pushy and refuse to leave when asked. Local police have explained that this is a new way for sex traffickers to find children. Yes, they are coming right to your home.

Get in the habit of taking your cell phone with you when you answer the door. This way if they do show up you can quietly take a video of the people and call the police if needed. Please protect your family by not answering any of their questions. Try to get a description of the people and any vehicles they may be driving and call the police right away. This is hitting really close to home for me. Another family who lives at Ina and Old Father just experienced this first hand. Kids are missing right now across Arizona because of these disgusting people. Don't be fooled if you have boys, It's not just girls they are looking for.

If you think your neighborhood is safe, Think again.

Please share!
