Are "Sugar Babies" the new escorts?

I came across this article today titled College "sugar babies" date for cash. These are the Sugar Babies I remember from my childhood. Nothing like what the article was addressing.

This is talking about a website where you can post your financial needs and a 'sugar daddy' can reply and agree to take care of those needs in exchange for a date. It's quickly gained popularity and more and more young women are signing up hoping to find a 'sugar daddy'. At first I was in shock, then I thought well of course this is a thing. I personally think it's borderline prostitution and it's definitely exploiting women. The site claims that women can find a mentor, gain financial stability, date experienced men and be pampered.

This company has been mentioned in the New York Times, Forbes magazine, The Wall Street Journal, on CNN and many more.

What do you think about young women requesting "allowance" from men in exchange for dates?

If you had student loans to pay off, would you sign up and take an allowance?

Dolphin killing season starts in Taiji, Japan

The above picture is from Seashepherd.org showing the nets used to corral the innocent dolphins into the "killing cove" before being slaughtered or traded.

The practice of killing dolphins has been going on for years. The hunting season runs from September to March. During this time thousands of innocent dolphins will be slaughtered for their meat. Some spared and sold to aquariums for well over $100,000. This is one of the main reasons that this practice still exists.

If you would like to learn more about stopping this disgusting practice please visit Seashepherd.org

Arizona braces for Odile

After the flooding we saw last Monday we need to be prepared for more water. Most fire departments are handing out sandbags to local residents. The news is suggesting we stay inside and be prepared. Since the ground is already saturated from last weeks storm the water won't seep into the ground. The water will just create a huge flood across the area.

Make sure you don't become a victim of Odile.

Here's how to protect your property with sandbags.

Step one: Contact your local fire department and see if they are offering FREE sandbags. If they are not you will have to purchase some at a local hardware store. Places like Home Depot, Lowes or Ace Hardware will have them.

Step two: Figure out how many bags and how much sand you would need to complete the wall. The staff at your local store should be able to help you with this. Just tell them how large of an area you need to protect.
Step three: You will need to purchase bags, sand and plastic sheeting or a tarp from your local hardware store.

Step four: Have a friend help you fill the bags. One person will hold the bag open while the other person uses a shovel to add sand to the bag. Fill the sandbags half way so you have excess to material to create a flap at the open end. Some bags will come with something to secure the bag closed. If yours does not, you can simply fold the flap over to seal it.

Step five: Place the plastic sheeting or tarp on the ground where you want to keep the water out. Place the plastic sheeting or tarp halfway up the wall, window or door where you want to keep the water out. This will help create a barrier to divert the water.

Step six: Start placing the first row of sandbags on the plastic sheeting or tarp. Make sure that each bag is tight against the next bag by tapping it down. Start the next row on top of the first in a brick pattern as seen below.

Stagger the placement of sandbags to create a strong barrier. Continue packing the bags down as you go. Build the wall up until you reach the desired height to safely divert the water.
Step seven: Relax; you are now protected from flooding waters. Stay inside and be safe.

Monsoon storms kicked Arizona's butt today.

Living in Arizona you have to get use to the Monsoon season. It's a couple of months of crazy random thunderstorms. It usually starts in the mid to late June and ends around the end of September. Here is a glimpse of what we encounter during a Monsoon.

Today was the wettest day I've seen a a very long time. It rained so hard that my daughters school had to close the parking lots. The water was past the tires on some cars. Here are some pictures of the chain link fence located along the parking lot that was knocked over by a wall of water.

On the way home we decided to stop and check out the Canada del Oro wash near our home. Take a look at the videos I shot below.

Here is another video of the Canada del Oro wash.

We have tons of "rivers" in Arizona but very few actually ever hold water.  Here is a picture of the Canada del Oro river today. It's bank to bank with water. This very rarely happens.

Do I say "Goodbye" to an old friend?

I have this Mom friend who I have known a LONG time. We have grown apart in recent years and I will say that it's been hard for me. It's hard to slowly lose a true good friend. That one person who you can be really honest to. The Mom who thinks you are always doing a good job and makes sure to tell you that you are even when you feel like you're failing. She was a great friend. I say was because she has slowly stopped contacting me unless she needs something. Her life is always full of some type of drama. She doesn't answer the phone when I call and I think it's very rude. So this presents me with a difficult decision. Do I cut ties with this old friend or keep the relationship together with only my strength?

It becomes exhausting to keep this friendship at times. The latest thing that pushed me over the edge was her recent Facebook post. I know I shouldn't let it bother me but I read it with my heart and it kinda hurt my feelings.

She did one of those "dedication" to a good friend posts. She went on and on about how amazing this friend is. She said she was thankful that this person came into her life and blah blah blah. I guess she completely forgot that all of us are reading the same thing and that friend she is speaking of is in fact NOT amazing at all. In fact that friend does nothing but negatively effect her life. That friend she was speaking about is actually a terrible person. I don't understand why people keep terrible people in their life. I mean if you don't make my life better what's the point of keeping you around?

At the end of the day we should ask ourselves; what good does this person bring into my life? If you can't answer that, I think it's time to move on. Life is much to short to have negative people surrounding you. I hope I have the strength to make the right decision about this friend.

Always try to be there for one another. You never know when someone might need you.

RIP Joan Rivers

Today we lost one of the greatest female comedians. She paved the way for so many of our current favorite comedians. They say it always happens in threes. Recently we lost the great Robin Williams, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and now Joan Rivers. She was one of the first women I watched do standup comedy. It's sad to hear of her passing. May she rest in peace.

R.I.P.

For more information on her life and death please click here RIP Joan Rivers to read the article.

Facebook madness, Please make it stop!

I'm not quite sure why we torture ourselves so much over Facebook and Twitter posts. Why do we have to be so hard on ourselves?

We have all seen the torture posts. Here are some of my favorites.........

1. My husband just bought me a new car, insert picture of custom license plate here "*****"

You don't have to tell us all about your new car. I'm still driving the minivan full of kids around but good for you!

2. I can't seem to gain weight, any ideas?

Really, do you think your "friends" are going to  feel bad for you?  NOPE! Eat a fricken cheeseburger. I mean really, most of us are struggling to lose weight so SHUT UP about your "struggle" to gain!

3. The pictures of your fancy food from the fancy restaurant.

Thank you for reminding me that I haven't eaten out in..............well................forever.

It's just plain crazyness and we seem to fall for it every time. Don't compare yourself to others. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. It's usually just astro turf. Give yourself a break and enjoy the wonderful life you are living right now.

Hello September

As we begin in this beautiful month of September I am enjoying seeing the temperatures slowly drop. See in Arizona, we don't really get winter so we really look forward to Fall. It's like six months of cool, what we call "Sweater weather" really it just means we can wear shorts and a sweater with our flip flops. When us Arizonans speak about our Winter most people don't believe us. It's comfortable, very comfortable. We really do have great weather for most of the year. I'm not a fan of our extreme heat. Actually, I hate it. That's a whole different post for later.

Have a wonderful day.

Thank you for reading.

You are beautiful.

I sometimes stare in envy of those Moms.

I'm always amazed when I see those Moms who really seem to have it together. You know the ones with the clean unwrinkled clothes. The ones that look like they were able to look in the mirror before they left in the morning. The ones who look fresh out of yoga with coffee in hand. I wonder if they really have it all together, or if they are just really good at playing it off. It's hard not to stare at them. All in there glory, looking ready for their day.

I can't wait to be one of those Moms. For now, I will enjoy being the mismatched wrinkled Mom. I think it suits me best.

Just remember to always be the best version of yourself. That's always good enough.
